I recently replaced my two SVS PB-16 Ultras with multiple SB17s. My usage is 50/50 between music and home theatre.
Right away, the SB17s impressed me with their tighter, more controlled, and articulate bass—an expected advantage of sealed subwoofers. The responsiveness and precision make a noticeable difference, particularly in musical playback, where accuracy is key.
Due to space restrictions, I couldn’t position the PB16s in the front corners, but the SB17s fit perfectly. This placement benefits from corner reinforcement, delivering deeper and more powerful low-end performance, especially when watching movies Additionally, I no longer have to deal with the distracting port noise that tends to plague all ported subwoofers.
Previously, with my two PB16s, the response was fairly flat in the “money seat” but inconsistent across other seating positions. Now, with an increased number of SB17s, seat-to-seat consistency has improved dramatically, resulting in a more immersive and uniform listening experience across my entire setup.
Overall, the transition to SB17s has been a game-changer, offering better placement flexibility, cleaner bass, and a more balanced experience for all listeners.
